The Executive Editors of Ocean Science would like to thank Bill Jenkins for his many years of invaluable work as Chief Editor of the journal. During this time (2007–2019), the number of papers published per year in Ocean Science has more than doubled – 42 papers (535 pages) in 2009 to 105 papers (1814 pages) in 2019. In this period Ocean Science has gained inclusion in Web of Science (now through Clarivate Analytics), with an Impact Factor now exceeding 2.5 (and more than 3 for the 5-year value). We greatly appreciate Bill's guidance, wisdom and support through this time, which has established Ocean Science as a leading open-access journal for oceanography.
